Chief Joseph Myrick and the McCook Fire Department
are the new, proud operators of a Hackney CR0682 Emergency
Support Vehicle with rear command center. The City
of McCook borders the City of Chicago and serves a
heavy industrial area of greater Chicago. The department
needed a multiple-task vehicle to handle the variety
of incidents received each day. This Hackney was selected
for its versatility and maximized storage capacity.
The rear entry command center features
a three-man desk and serves as an easy entry rehab
center. A 25-kw PTO generator provides electrical
power. A 6000-watt NightScan light tower is mounted
over the cab roof to keep the overall height of the
vehicle to a minimum. In addition to the light tower,
there are two 1500-watt telescoping lights on the
rear of the body. Two Hannay cord reels feature 200
ft. of 10/3 cable for remote operations.
Other features on the McCook
unit include: breathing air cascade system; slide-out
storage rack for four complete SCBA's with backup
and go donning; 18 spare SCBA bottle storage tubes;
high volume Purpole-K Fire Extinguisher System; Ladder
and pike pole storage; stokes basket and back board
storage; two-sided, 36" deep x 78" high
slide-out tool board; rappelling loops under side
of body; numerous adjustable shelves and trays; and
Lukas tools and hose reels (one set on each side of
the body).
